Plans and pricing: Boost, Pro and what you are charged

For anyone deciding which plan to choose, checking what they pay, or wondering why a price at checkout looks different from a price they saw advertised.

SortMe has two paid plans: Boost and Pro. Each can be paid monthly or yearly. This article explains what each plan includes, where to see and change your plan, and why an advertised price can differ from your final charge.

The plans

  • SortMe Boost: full access to SortMe's budgeting, cashflow, Net Worth, goals, rules, and reporting features.
  • SortMe Pro: everything in Boost, plus Entities. Entities let you separate different parts of your money life (for example your personal spending, a rental, or a side business) and produce an end-of-year pack for your accountant.

You choose one plan. Pro is the higher tier and includes everything Boost has.

What about PowerUps? PowerUps is not a plan and is not an extra charge. It is a section inside the app where you can request specialist help, for example a financial coach, a KiwiSaver review, an insurance review, or a mortgage review. Tapping into a PowerUp connects you with a specialist; it does not change your subscription.

Prices

We recommend paying yearly. It works out cheaper than paying month by month, and it is the plan most people choose.

  • SortMe Boost, NZD $99 per year (recommended). This is the best value.
  • SortMe Boost, NZD $29 per month, if you would rather pay monthly.
  • SortMe Boost, NZD $149 for two years. The best value on Boost if you know you are staying.
  • SortMe Pro, NZD $299 per year (recommended). This is the standard Pro option.
  • SortMe Pro, NZD $399 for two years. The best value on Pro if you know you are staying.
  • SortMe Pro, NZD $49 per month, if you would rather pay monthly.

All prices are in New Zealand dollars. The exact price for your plan is always shown in the app on the plans screen and again at checkout before you confirm, so you can see what you will pay.

Where to see and change your plan

  1. Open Settings from the menu.
  2. Go to the Billing & Subscription section.
  3. Here you can see your current plan and change it, move between Boost and Pro, or switch between monthly and yearly.

How your change is handled depends on where you first subscribed:

  • Subscribed on the web: Billing & Subscription opens the secure billing portal, where you update your plan or payment details.
  • Subscribed in the iPhone or Android app: your subscription is managed by Apple or Google, so you change or cancel it in your device's subscription settings (see the FAQ below).

You can also reach the upgrade options from the "Upgrade to Pro" buttons and trial banners shown around the app.

Why the price at checkout can differ from an advertised price

If a price you saw on our website or an ad looks different from what you see at checkout, there are a few normal reasons:

  • Promotions. Advertised prices are often a limited-time promotion or a welcome discount. The discount only applies if the promo code is added and its conditions are met (for example a minimum order, or only on an annual plan). Without an active promo, you pay the standard price.
  • An expired or ineligible promo. If a promotion has ended, or does not apply to the plan or billing period you chose, checkout shows the standard price instead.
  • A trial start charge. Some sign-up flows include a small one-off charge to start your trial. That is separate from your plan price and can make the first amount look different from the plan's sticker price.
  • Web vs app store pricing. If you subscribe on the web, billing goes through our card processor. If you subscribe inside the iPhone or Android app, billing goes through Apple or Google, who set their own store prices. The same plan can show a slightly different amount depending on where you buy it.

If you were charged an amount you did not expect and none of the above explains it, contact us at support@sortme.com with the date and amount and we will check it for you.

Is there a free plan after my trial?

No. SortMe is a paid product. Your trial gives you full access for a limited time, and to keep using SortMe after it ends you choose Boost or Pro. There is no ongoing free plan for new users. If a payment fails, see My Payment Failed: What Happens Next? If you decide SortMe is not for you, see Cancelling Your Account and Removing Your Bank Details.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a two-year plan?
Yes. Both plans have one. Boost is NZD $149 for two years and Pro is NZD $399 for two years. Both can also be paid monthly or yearly.

I was billed for both Pro and Boost.
You should only ever have one active plan. If you believe you have been billed twice or on two plans, email support@sortme.com with the charge dates and amounts and we will sort it out.

How do I change from monthly to annual (or the other way)?
Go to Settings > Billing & Subscription and change your plan there. If you subscribed in the app store, make the change in your Apple or Google subscription settings instead.

I subscribed in the app, how do I manage it?
If you subscribed through the iPhone or Android app, your subscription is managed by Apple or Google. You change or cancel it in your device's subscription settings, not on the SortMe website.
