Net Worth: where to find it and how to manage your assets and liabilities

For anyone who wants to open Net Worth, add or update an asset or a debt by hand, or work out why their Net Worth page or graph is not showing what they expect.

Your Net Worth is everything you own (your assets) minus everything you owe (your liabilities). SortMe adds up your connected accounts and any items you enter by hand, and shows the total and a graph over time.

How to open Net Worth

Net Worth lives on the Growth page. Open it from the left-hand sidebar menu. Depending on your app version, this menu item is labelled either Growth or Net Worth — both open the same page, with Net Worth as the first tab.

Why can I not see Net Worth anymore?

There are two common reasons.

• It moved. Net Worth is now a tab on the Growth page. If you used to open a separate "Net Worth" menu item and cannot find it, look for Growth in the sidebar instead.
• Your plan. Net Worth is a Boost feature. If your free trial has ended, or you are on a plan that does not include it, you will see an upgrade page ("Track your assets and liabilities") instead of your figures. Adding a manual asset or liability

Use this to add anything SortMe cannot connect to automatically — a house, a vehicle, cash, shares, a private loan, or money you owe.

1. Open the Growth (Net Worth) page.
2. Scroll down to the Assets & Liabilities section.
3. Tap Add Asset or Liability.
4. Choose a Type. The list is grouped into Assets and Liabilities:
   • Assets: Cash, Property, Equities (shares and funds), Crypto, Items, Vehicles, Other Asset.
   • Liabilities: Debts, Mortgage, Other Liability.
5. Enter a Name and the Current Value (what it is worth, or what you owe).
6. Tap Save.

Your item now counts toward your Net Worth total — assets add to it, liabilities subtract from it.

Updating a manual balance by hand

Manual items do not update on their own, so it is good to refresh them now and then (for example your KiwiSaver or house value).

1. Find the item in your Assets & Liabilities list.
2. Hover over it and tap the $ icon. A small box titled "Value as of: [date]" appears.
3. Type the new value and tap Update.

To change the item's name or type instead, tap the pencil icon. To remove it, open the pencil edit view and tap Delete this asset (or liability).

Note: the $ icon and the value editing only appear for manual items. Connected bank accounts update their balance automatically, so you cannot edit those by hand.

Adding a manual debt or liability

Yes, you can. A debt is added the same way as an asset. Tap Add Asset or Liability, choose a liability type (Debts, Mortgage, or Other Liability), give it a name, and enter the amount you owe as the Current Value. It will reduce your Net Worth total. Update it later with the $ icon as your balance changes.

Removing crypto from your Net Worth

SortMe does not have a separate "crypto" view or a toggle to hide it. Crypto only appears in your Net Worth if you added it as a manual asset with the type Crypto. To remove it, find that item, open the pencil edit view, and tap Delete this asset. If you would rather keep it but label it differently, use the pencil icon to change its type.

Why is my Net Worth graph empty?

The "Net Worth Over Time" graph builds up from your recorded balances over time. It can look empty when there is not enough history yet, for example:

• You are new, or have just started, and SortMe has not recorded balance points yet.
• You have not connected any accounts or added any manual assets or liabilities, so there is nothing to plot.

Connect an account or add a manual asset, then give it a little time. As SortMe records your balances over the following days, the graph fills in.

Can I print or export the Net Worth page?

There is no print or export button on the Net Worth page itself. If you need a copy, you can use your web browser's own print or "save as PDF" option while the page is open. Frequently asked questions

Do my connected accounts show in Net Worth automatically?

Yes. Bank accounts, cards, loans, and any KiwiSaver or investment accounts you connect through Akahu are included automatically and update as their balances change. You only add items by hand for things that are not connected.

Where do I add cash on hand?

Add it as an asset with the type Cash using Add Asset or Liability. Cash items appear in their own section on the Net Worth list.

Why is my Net Worth different from my bank balance?

Net Worth is not a single account. It adds up everything you own and subtracts everything you owe, so it is usually very different from any one account balance.
