How to Connect Your New Zealand Bank Accounts to SortMe

SortMe offers a user-friendly interface that allows you to easily connect your bank accounts. Follow the simple steps below to connect your bank accounts to SortMe.


Step 1: Navigate to Account Settings

Click on the gear icon located at the top right corner.


Step 2: Access Akahu Settings

For New Zealand banks, SortMe relies on Akahu, a trusted open finance platform, to establish connections with banks. Click into the "Connect Account".

Step 3: Log in to Create an Akahu Account 

Follow the prompts to create or sign into your Akahu account. From there, you'll be able to allow access to your selected bank accounts.

Step 4: Select Your Bank

A list of supported banks will be displayed. Find and select your bank from the list and follow the on-screen instructions to authenticate your bank account. 

Once the authentication process is complete, please make sure that this account is selected to be added to the SortMe account via the blue dot next to the bank name.

Click save.

4.1 Follow the bank connecting flow

TIP:   With some of the banks, the new open-banking connection process is a bit confusing. Some rely on you to get notifications on your mobile. If you don't have your notifications turned on, you'll need to go into your banking app, go into the messages/notifications section, and follow the prompts from there.


Step 5: Done!

You will be sent back to your SortMe settings page where you should see the account connection established.
