Troubleshooting RBC Bank Connection Issues on SortMe

Canada-based SortMe users connecting their RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) accounts may encounter errors during the connection process.

Common Issue: Users attempting to link their RBC accounts to SortMe may see an error message indicating that their account settings are incompatible.

Steps to Resolve:

Understanding the Error: The error message "Your account settings are incompatible" generally points to configurations on the RBC account that interfere with the connection process via Plaid. SortMe relies on Plaid to establish connections with banks. Plaid is a trusted open finance platform by Canadian banks and is certified in internationally recognized security standards, such as ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and is SSAE18 SOC2 compliant.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): This error often results from MFA settings that are incompatible with what Plaid supports. This may include MFA configurations requiring a One-Time Passcode (OTP) at each login.

Disabling MFA: To resolve the issue, you may need to temporarily disable MFA on your RBC banking account. Once MFA is disabled, attempt to connect your RBC account to SortMe again.

Future Enhancements: Plaid has plans to work on an update to support connections with MFA enabled. However, there is no exact timeline for this enhancement yet.
